House Warming

My aunt had a housewarming party on Sunday. It went awesome.
ALL THE FOOD was great! Should have taken somemore. But my mom really banned me from eating. She claimed I was too fat. Like wtf! She even suggested slimming pills.

Anyway, we had a mass, and I was like the official photographer of the day. Managed to catch a few shots that I thought was candid!

I LOVE THE BOOKSHELF OKAY. Nice to the maximumz.

Oh, and Friar Mike. He's like the hottest metro priest of the millenium. Haha. I know it sounds (wait, it IS) wrong to be hitting on a priest, but I think just about any girl would hit on him.

I FOUND MY WALLET!

More like my wallet found me. Thank God for all the nice parishioners that exists.
My IC and EZ Link card are now safe (more like unsafe) in my hands again.

Anyway, so much for having a last week of school. I'm totally drained. And I feel so so so saturated with information.

I had an awesome time yesterday! Yesterday being the last day of exams before the holidays and all. And I also went down to Mediacorp studios for the recording to be aired on Sunday.
All weekend shows are PRE-RECORDED. I know, what a CHEAT!

Had an awesome time, although I thought I sounded weird. Haha. At least now I know I'm not cut out for deejay-ing. =P

AND AND AND. Ross is HAWT STUFF okay. Like hot to the MAXIMUMZ. Tall too lor. I stand beside her and I feel short!! Maybe she's 175cm? I was wearing 1 inch kitty heels alr la.

Yeah, I managed to go into the 987 studios while sue was doing Say It With Music. WOAAH.

HER DRESS WAS UBER NICE. So tempted to just rip it off her and wear it!!!

And after a while, I was about to head home, depressed, because I wouldn't have a chance to take a picture with the MUTTONS. But guess what! It was 9pm and right outside the radio building, Ross saw Vernon A's car!!

SO... Ross called Vernon A to check if Justin was there. AND Yes! He was. Was about to go up when the MUTTONS said they would come down. So we waited and waited and waited, for about 10 minutes. I was bored, so I took a shot of Vernon A's car! :D :D :D

OH St. Anthony, I know I've been a losing a lot of things, pleaseee, I really need my wallet.

That was pretty much what I told John. If you want to read it go ahead la.
JUST SAD NOW.

then i went down and waited for car pool
but while waiting i dropped my wallet.
but i didn't notice only until i was in the car
the car didn't want to turn back, so he dropped me off at sch.
at this time, my mom was attending morning mass, and she left her handphone at home. so i couldn't contact her to go the void deck to check.
desperate. i called my dad.
but he was sleeping.
so i was so super scared, and i was praying that God will help me by sending an angel who will help pick it up.
when i went back, checked my letterbox. no news. checked with my aunty neighbours, no avail..
die. so i ended up crying. at this time i was late for school alr la.
and i had a paper. HORRIBLE. oh no. i was super depressed.
and then when i entered school. my teachers were nice. they gave me tissue, and my eng HOD was like trying to comfort me. "dont cry, you cant do the paper if u cry."
at this point of time, i was like tear infested alr la. so i tried to stop. but couldn't.
i did my apper anyway.
and then after my paper, my teacher was damn pissed with me, cuz i attempted expository.
RAWR. just because they dont approve of expository doesn't mean i cant attempt it right. if not why the hell do they put it as one of their questions.

Anway, regarding expository writing. I DO NOT SEE THE POINT IN FORCING STUDENTS TO DO SOMETHING AGAINST THEIR WILL.
I hate narrative. Period.
Not that I haven't got those creative juices juiced up. Just that... Ah, what's the use of explaining it here.

Can't they just let us learn the hard way? If we really suck at expository, then we'll fail the paper.
Somehow, I have a feeling they will deliberately fail me.
Oh well. We'll see soon.

Eng O Level Oral

English O Level Oral was yesterday (Hmmm, I always seem to be blogging around 1 am, and write about "yesterday"). Anyway, that point aside.
I thought I did well. But it better not turn out like Chinese. I thought I did well, and I ENDED UP GETTING A CRAPPY C5.

Today's topic was on "Modern Technology". And it was a REALLY good topic for me, since I love it so much.

I loved my examiners, they were very attentive, and they were INTERACTIVE. They responded how I wanted/expected them to.

I was just discussing with Deva during English lesson before our exam how I wanted to crack a joke with the examiners, and she said "YOU WOULDN'T DARE".

But hey man. I WANTED TO SO BADLY. It's not everyday to get to talk to people you don't know and they are obliged to give you their 100% attention (okay, maybe not 100%, but close to that figure).
A joke or two wouldn't hurt. Afterall, I was the 8th person, and they would probably have gotten a little tense listening to the same old passage and descriptions for 7 times before me.

I managed to get the examiners to laugh WITH me (not AT me) a few times. =D
Haha, it was constructive jokes la. And obviously, I did everything my English teacher told me to. So I should be getting the marks. IF NOT, nevermind. -shrugs.

The only thing I was pleased about was the fact that they were actually GENUINELY INTERESTED in what I had to say for the conversation. Because I passed time, like wayyyyy over.
And although I shouldn't be alarmed when the examiners asked me a question, I was alarmed by this question: "OH, THAT'S ALL?"
HAHA. I can prove that that statement showed they were interested in me.

Congrats if you made it to this line. You just lived through the crappiest all-about-me post ever.

My weekends never fail to be filled with activities that keeps me entertained.
Well, was supposed to go for yet another BAND concert on Sunday, but Shelly wasn't performing last minute, so might as well not go.

Ended up going to Holland V with BF (:

We actually did some productive studying. Considering that when you put both of us together, we can never stop talking!

OHOHOH. By the way, I had tau suan and WHITE carrot cake for dinner!

It's 1.30 am now. AND I SHOULD BE SLEEPING. But I had too much coffee from Starbucks. DIE. I can't sleep.

Stress, Pictures from Philharmonic Youth Winds Concert!

I've yet to update this space properly for about a week now. But here goes.

I'm here on a Monday morning, unable to sleep because of the long weekend I just enjoyed. Sleep late, wake up late. AHH. I need to catch some sleep in school later.

Well, I did study during this four and a half day long weekend, but not much.

It really sucks to see the rest of your batch stressing over the preparation for the prelims, and realise that you are not feeling stressed at all.
But then again, I just can't put my finger down onto where all that stress that my batchmates are experiencing is coming from.
Expectations? Hmmm. But I have mine too.

***All the greyed text is just useless ranting that will not change the world. Therefore I give you full permission to skip it if you wish to.

From the time a Singaporean is born, to the time he dies, there is much in the social environment itself (what more can we say about the working/schooling environment) that generates stress within the individual.
THAT IS DEFINITELY A CONSTANT. The variable in the equation is how we deal with stress.

I think we'll have a shorter lifespan (so much for better healthcare) due to all the stress!

Don't you agree that the nub of the issue is the way we define success in Spore?
We have come to define success TOO NARROWLY.
It doesn't take a genius to know the way success is defined in Singapore means largely two things: ACADEMIC and MATERIAL achievements.
These are not bad in themselves, but they are too restrictive, simply too narrow.

Some forms of stress are bad, but we can't generalise can we?? Exceptions are everywhere (it prevails in CHEMISTRY).
Let's look at stress to be a pot of boiling water shall we?
Obviously, you wouldn't want the water to over boil, lest all the water becomes evaporated, and the initial intention of having hot water, is well, not materialised.
But don't we all know that without this heat, the water will never boil. Then we can NEVER EVER EVER have our awesome turtle soup. AWWW ):

Okay, enough about "Stress".

I had an awesome weekend. Just filled with angels to make it perfect.

Friday: Amplify Friday.
Had dinner with John before that. And got him into a little trouble with Shelly, punctuality issues. Sorry about that mate!
Well, yeah. Friday was good :D

Saturday: East Coast Park, SA Band Concert.
Went to East Coast Park in the morning with Min Lun. Made him wait for 40 minutes! AHHH. PUNCTUALITY NATHALIE!!!!!! You've definitely got punctuality issues.
Bladed for about 10km? Haha. It was a good workout!
Fell down, and Min Lun got a shot of me on the ground. UBER FUNNY. Too bad I didn't have my knight in shining armour to save me.

Entire Saints family put up items for the concert in the evening at Singapore Conference Hall. It was good, especially the Saints Alumni Band.
And there's this guy called Benjamin Thia if I'm not wrong. WHOAAAA.
He's like an awesome percussionist. Loved it.

Bear with me. Second post of the day because I've many things to blog about. Then again, you can skip all of this.

I went for John's Band concert on Sunday. At Singapore Conference Hall. Philharmonic Youth Winds. It was VERY GOOD. They meet up and practice once a week, and the music they produce is WOW. Then again, most of them are Pros.

They played the Drum Concerto and OMG. It was SUPER DUPER DUPER NICE.
LOVEDIT.

Camwhored A LITTLE, and yeah, went for dinner. Sponsored by Shelly, since she received her $50 bucks!

MOVING ON to today.
National Celebrations was a blast, but I still regret going to school! Because I missed out on sleep.
Let's throw all this negativity aside and look at the bright side of things shall we!

This year's National Day theme song "Will You" has left a very deep impression on me. I just feel so proud to be a Singaporean. SO PROUD.
LOOK AT THEM. The people in the music video can sing so well! STANDARDS people. This is what I call good. Well, not that the previous years were not good. I just feel good watching "Will You".

Ah well. My sentences are not very coherent today. But HAPPY EARLY BIRTHDAY SINGAPORE.
I really do appreciate what you've done for me. Although the govt does piss me off ~~most of the time~~.

Here I am, on a Wednesday morning, totally thankful for what God has done for me in my life.

It seems that things don't go the way you planned them to be, but somehow, things fall into place quite perfectly I must say.

Take my education journey for example.
From an IJ school. I wasn't thankful for the Catholic education that was priceless.
I went on to a protestant environment. It was a real test of my faith. And I started to appreciate what I had lost. Something that money could never buy.

Now, you must be thinking, what's the big deal of a catholic education? It is a big deal, a HUGE DEAL in fact.

What are all the Catholics doing in ACSI? Don't they have SJI to turn to (Which is of similar standards in terms PSLE entry score)? What are all catholics doing in MGS/ SCGS, don't they have St. Nicks to turn to (and again, which is of similar standards).
Where's the support man!

Well, it's my turn to show some support of the Catholic schools in Singapore.
I've prayed about it in fact, and given my standards, I'm very sure I can get into JCs which are termed 'better' e.g. SAJC. I've got a calling in CJC? Yeah, and I went on with the DSA application.

It was amazing when I got shortlisted for the interview. It was even more amazing when I passed the interview. Because my DSA 'forte' was Leadership. And not many people get in through that as a CCA. Like erm Rugby, Track, Netball, more likely, the more useful ones.

Just want to thank God for all the things he's done in my life. If I had never gone to St. Marg's, I would have never proved myself worthy of this gift of leadership within a period of three to four months. If I had never gone to St. Marg's, I would have never appreciated a Catholic eudcation this much.

To all those who have not gone thru secular/protestant doors! Praise God for the wonderful education you have!

I'm just SO HAPPY LA NOW.
I'll step into those doors on 2 Jan 07.

P.S. I'm not mad. Just really appreciative.

Woke up at around 12noon on Saturday and I was late for Sean's Birthday Lunch. WHOOPS.
So happy birthday Sean (in advanced of like TWO MONTHS).

Anyway, last sunday we had our ONCE IN A BLUE MOON hospi meetings. It wasn't so much of a meeting, more like a gathering, a chillax, just a random hangout.

This was the most fun I had with hospi, since.... Never maybe??
Sunday was a was just like any Sunday. Lunch, movie, supper. But what made it so special was all the heart to heart sharings we had.
It just totally affirmed one another of our existence in Hospi, and how we're called to this team for a reason.

Haha, it's just a lazy Sunday. And I kinda wish all sundays were like that. Just hanging out, not studying. And just fellowshipping. Ah well. Time, the master of all things, sadly doesn't permit.

Just a few days ago I was speaking to a friend (let's name her Miss X) about my change in race. From Malayalee to Chinese.

In case you're wondering right now why I was able to change my race, it's because I'm half-Indian, half-Chinese. Originally Indian, however with a letter of approval for change of race, endorsed by my mother's husband, I am able to change my race.

Anyway, back to my point.

Practising Meritocracy is definitely encouraged in Singapore, however, is it really carried out?
You might say, "YES! It is definitely practiced in Singapore. Malay, Indian, Chinese, Eurasian, everyone gets a fair chance to work what!"

My answer to you, a simple NO.
I shall elaborate with a conversation and a real life example to prove my point.

While I was speaking about my experience at the ICA, she remembered about how her dad just came back to Singapore and was searching for a job. And how he can get rather scary at times. She was relating to an experience he had.

Her father decided to call company XYZ for a job as a receptionist. (This was for fun, because the Advert stated that they wanted people who were able to speak mandarin.)

He called up company XYZ and the person on the other line said "Can you speak Mandarin?"
Miss X's Dad, "Yes, I speak rather fluent Mandarin in fact."
XYZ, "Oh, then what's your race?"
Miss X's Dad, "I'm Indian."
XYZ, "Sorry, we're looking for Chinese people only."
Miss X's Dad, "WHAT THE... *and he started screaming on and on*"

Well, this is one fine example to prove whether or not Singapore practises meritocracy all the time.

Unbelievable? Believe it.

Amplify's Amazing Race. Travel around Singapore, walk in the rain, sweat like crazy, and get time penalties which you don't deserve. HEEHEE, IT WAS FUN!

Well, I'd most probably be blogging about the title since Titles are meant for summarising the content of the post.

I went into school yesterday all excited about the school week. And I was looking forward to all the learning that was going to take place (see how good a student I am?)... Well until morning assembly that is.

Apparently, one of our girls (more like EX-Girl) had pictures of herself in uncompromising poses up on the net, and this super kaypoh person just had to complain to the Principal (I will not put her name down here because it's highly dangerous. Ooooh, I'm so scared.)

"GIRLS, I have to reinstate this rule RIGHT NOW. No pictures of yourselves in uniform in your blogs. None at all."

WHOA. This is pure crap.
So much for the school hymn.

Yes, indeed we are 'reaping' their harvest. This unwanted harvest.

Today, St. Margaret's Secondary School had their 165th Speech and Prize-Giving Day. (Hmmm. How can it be 165th? Don't tell me they had a prize day ever since the first year of school? -shrugs)

Anyway, I was really privileged to win the Kilgour-Holloway Bursary. $150 bucks! The highest amount so far I think.
WHOOHOO. It really pays to be a tad bit poorer eh?
Just when I needed to save for my Sydney trip!
GOD REALLY DOES PROVIDE.

Eunice Olsen appeared as Guest-of-honour, and she gave out only the special prizes! Haha, which meant she shook my hand!!
Those who had top in subjects or something like that shook some other guy's hand (and I swear that guy was hitting on Eunice Olsen. Like who wouldn't? She's freaking prettaye!)

Today was truly unforgettable.
Mr AA made it so much better. I don't know what's it about him, but you just want to hear him more.

Today morning's devotion was about Encouraging, and how a simple gesture like encouraging could make an impact on someone else's life.
To think I experienced it first hand.

He saw my mom, and said, "She's got a really good brain in that head. And she speaks well. She's going to do very well."

After all these months of school, I've finally come to appreciate the term "learning". From a failure in SS, to non-failure in SS. Mr AA, salute you.

Another person who made it better was Tabitha. Well, let's just say the most unexpected words came from her mouth (more like hand, since she wrote me a long letter). And it really uplifted my faith in God.
Thank you.

I've got awesome teachers, and THANK GOD for them. I'm so blessed, I feel like I'm robbing someone of their happiness sometimes.

Anyway, caught HARRY POTTER and the ORDER OF THE PHOENIX today!
It was awesome. The action was there. But it was super anti-climax.
A 6 hour movie cut into 2! ):

I'd give this movie 3.5/5 stars!
But if you're a Harry Potter fan! It's 4.6 stars!

O Level Chinese Listening Compre was FUN.

Other than the fact that I had to rush back home right after we got dismissed to obtain some form of identification (other than EZ link card), so that I could prove that I was present.

I know I didn't score full marks. 8/10.
But still fun nonetheless!

Bacteria Transformaton, Science Centre

Went to the Science Centre 14/o7.
Had an okay time transforming bacteria.

Success rate of the bacteria being transformed is 0.5%! WHAT'S THE USE THEN. Just show us the transformed bacteria, instead of getting us all excited, and then we fail.

Anyway, 4e6 was camwhoring, and since I had a camera, I went around snapping people. I LIKE DOING THAT.

Anyway, after all this, I went into Science centre. Alone.
Contrary to many who think so, I PREFER TO BE ALONE.
The freedom of choice. Where you want to go, where you would like to go next.

I decided to check out the new exhibits at iSpace.
All this infocomm techonolgy stuff is ultra cool!

But before that, I had a looksee at the toilets at Water Works. NICE AND PINK.

This was the first thing I saw when I entered the iSpace section. WHOA. I wanted to hop in. Nice cobalt blue.

And my iSpace journey begins. I had to take a card which contained a RDIF chip, and I registered my name and age with these kiosks.

Afterwhich I headed up and I had to pass through a walkway. It made me rather dizzy.

This was one of the exhibits I saw. They spoke about the evolution of inventions. How they just got better and better! And guess what? The poster you see is not a poster, it's digital, as you slide the display across the board, they tell you about the pictures that correspond behind it.

And I saw this toilet bowl called BioStool. It can measure your weight, blood sugar levels etc. I didn't attempt to measure my blood sugar level and cholesterol. But I did attempt to take my weight with the BioStool. All you had to do was sit on it. AND OMG. It was accurate!

Headed down to the ecogarden afterwards. And the air there is so FRESH! All that photosynthesis made the air there a lot more breathable.
I saw this plant named the "Mother-in-law Plant". Was trying to draw some parallels to mother-in-laws but I couldn't. Because all I know about mother-in-laws is that they are EVIL to their daughter-in-laws. Then again, that generalisation made by me was influenced by media, which proves to be inaccurate. SINCE WHEN was media accurate?

I didn't take any more photos, but I had a damn fun time just playing with all the exhibits.
Technology you rock!

Anyway, speaking about technology (this is where I start to think about SS lessons).
It's always changing isn't it?
So is our economy.

From a labour intensive economy, we moved on to a capital intensive economy. Now we're moving towards a Knowledge-based economy (KBE). What next?
Innovation driven economy? Newfangled idea economy? Lastest thing economy?
HAIYA. Let's just call it a God-help-us economy.

World Youth Day Sydney 2008

HELLO WORLD.

Sorry for that eew-ish post just now.

Anyway, I'm looking for donations that will help me get to Sydney next year for World Youth Day (WYD) 2008!
My current financial status will never get me anywhere.
I don't think I'll lie about my family income. It's below 1000. And that means maximum $250 per head. But think about it, electricity bills, phone bills, water bills, food. How much spending power do I have exactly?
The one good thing that came out of this is that I've stopped impulse shopping. And actually, I've stopped shopping altogether. Other than window shopping of course.

Basically, WYD is the Catholic Church's week of events for youth and with youth. It gathers thousands of young people from around the world to celebrate and learn about the Catholic faith and to build bridges of friendship and hope between continents, peoples and cultures.

Initiated by Pope John Paul II, World Youth Day has been held every year since 1986 when the first event was held in Rome. Sydney will host the 10th international WYD and XXIII WYD overall.

It'll be held from the 15th of July (Tues) to the 20th of July (Sun) 2008.

One dollar will go a LONG WAY.
I'll have to fork out $1000 bucks by next July to go for this event.

I don't know how many will respond, but if you would like to make a contribution, please do.

My 07.07.07 passed VERY EVENTFULLY.

It was Archdiocesan Youth Day. Catholics to be confirmed all around Singapore celebrated this day with a BIG BANG!
Morning segment started off rather subtly. But as time passed, the confirmants opened up and boy were they fun!!
Blessed Sacrament Confirmants! I wish you all the best in your journey with God, it's not going to be smooth all the way, but it sure is worth it!

Afterwhich, we headed down to EXPO for the rally!
I entered the hall, and I just went: "OH MY GOD! HOW AWESOME YOU ARE!"
It was SO HUGE, a MULTITUDE of people. We could have beat City Harvest anytime. But nevermind, that aside.

MULTITUDE OF PEOPLE. Just singing and praising God.

Praise and Worship was good. Refreshing I must say.
There was a skit put up by ____ (I forgot the name of the org, but it was FANTASTIC. I think the guy playing Jonah is a mediacorp person).
The skit was based on the book of Jonah.

Testimonies by people. People who have been put through all the shit in life, and yet made a CHOICE to live on, and live with God.
Sister Margaret from Hong Kong, I salute you. You are the strongest woman I've seen in my life.

The last time an event this large a scale happened, where all the Catholics in Singapore gathered, was in 2002. Shine Jesus Shine Rally at the Singapore Indoor Stadium.

It was just awesome to see all the people you love gathered in one place. Well, maybe I didn't usher and get that RED tee. But it was awesome just facilitating the youth in my church. Very fulfilling.

Well, today's Week Two without the leaders around, and we're doing very fine!
Hospi manpower was down today. Everyone was late. Thank God Eden was up.

I've grown to love my Hospi Team even more.
And you know something? It's not when I receive that I start to love them. It's when I give.
The ironies of life.

Leadership?
What I've REALLY experienced today was Leadership in its TRUEST form. Serving, starting with the bottom.
Servant Leadership. The most highly respected leaders practice that, I believe.

I don't know how many lives I've touched today. Or how many smiles I've brought across today... But all I want to say is:
"I LOVE YOU GOD. And thank you for all the strength you've given me so far. Continue to guide me.

God sent me a message from the bible today.
1 Timothy 4:12.
"Do not let anyone look down on YOU because you are YOUNG, but be an EXAMPLE for the believers in your speech, your condut, your love, faith and purity."

You know, it spoke so much to me.
And it gave me all the strength I needed to go on today.

I've grown so much in this ONE MONTH.
The joy in me can't be described. It's the AGAPE love. It's that feeling. I wonder if you know what I'm talking about.

God has been here to take away all my hurts, help me overcome all my obstacles. It just seemed so much easier with Him around.
What would I do without him?

MY FIRST LOVE. God.
And this feeling just brings tears to my eyes. Tears of joy.

I'm just in a state of perpetual excitement. Excited to serve Him. Excited to love others. Excited to just do everything.

Transformers. The Movie

Caught Transformers on 30 June.
IT WAS AWESOME.

I can honestly tell you that I'm not a huge fan of Transformers, because I don't watch the cartoon. And I only found out about the existence of AutoBots during the movie....
BUT I LOVED THE MOVIE ANYWAY.

This movie keeps you in your seat throughout the entire screening. And plus, this is the first movie, where you actually FEEL for a non-animal/ non-homosapien.
AWESOME STUFF.

And Optimus Prime taught me and Leo something really important.
...that freedom is the right of all sentient beings.

I'd give this movie 4.2/5 stars!

I've been eating a lot lately and I've had my fair share of both GOOD and BAD food.

Let's start off with the food that you should NEVER TRY in your entire life.
1. The Tou Suan at Farrer Market (IT REALLY SUCKS BIG TIME!!!).
2. The Soup Noodle Store at Holland Village Hawker Centre (Soup is too tasteless. A few sips and you throw your soup away)
3. The Duck Rice at Farrer Market (You pay $4 and they give you food that can fill your stomach for only an hour)
4. Fruit juices at Farrer Market (Too diluted)

Try to avoid most foods in Farrer Market.

Now, the food that YOU SHOULD EAT!
1. Nasi Lemak at Adam Road Market
2. Tou Suan at Adam Road Market
3. Laksa at Queensway Shopping Centre (1st Floor)

Seriously! A lot of the food at Adam Road Market ROCKS! Except maybe for the western food and Indian Rojak store. Food tastes a little uncooked.

Man, I spend most of my time eating, maybe I should cut down on eating time, and spend more time on Quiet Time.

I've been eating AWESOME home-cooked food lately. INSTANT NOODLES, INSTANT NOODLES and INSTANT NOODLES.
Cooked with love by mommy, so it doesn't matter if all my damn hair drops because of MSG. (Okay, maybe it does matter. But it tastes good man!)

Anyway, after school today (which ended rather late) met MOMMY to shop in town!
I got...
1. a black tube dress which I tried on the other time at This Fashion ($14.40, 10% discount because I have membership man!) [Click here for post. It's dress number 5.]
2. a pair of black converse sneakers ($39.13, 30% discount because of GSS!)
3. a new set of earphones @ Popular (paid $0.70 because we had popular vouchers and they had a 20% discount)

I FEEL BAD LA. That ass is jobless. My mom's working to get all the money, and plus, we have debts to pay off.

Blogging.
Just a verb. Just one word.
To think it took over my life.

It all peaked when my camera spoilt, and I seriously "die-die" needed a camera (my camera phone at that point of time couldn't upload pictures onto the comp: Nokia 6610i).
I saw this blogging competition at Youth.sg, and I decided to just give it a shot. And boy was I lucky.
I made it to the top 20 for the last and final round, my chances of getting that camera became SO REAL.
I worked tirelessly for one entire week, chionging around school, asking for votes.

The results were out, I WON. I got a new camera, and following that, I got a lot more fame.
I was so self-absorbed, nothing else in the world mattered.

It was then when blogging got the better of me. I didn't know at that point of time you see. And I even dare say, "I LIVE FOR MY BLOG".

This continued on for a while, and I felt like a mini celebrity. People coming up to me saying, "Hey, love your blog babe."
WOW, the feeling was overwhelming. It wasn't short-lived as many people would believe so.

My blog hits just got higher and higher and higher. Until I decided to take part in the grand finals of the blogging festival, and then (really unfortunately) I made it to the top 20 again.
This time, I swear I was MINDLESS. I just rallied for votes like crazy. Like come on man! Who doesn't want that Apple MacBook.
I lost myself during that period of time. And I didn't even realise it.

Sure I lost, but my hits just shot higher, higher and higher. After all this time of clamouring for attention, I've finally got it!
Nat, here's YOUR CHANCE to shine. Come on, the world loves you, and they just want more of you. Give your all! Give your everything to your blog.

It even climaxed to a point, where I felt that I needed an online identity. And I called myself NUTNAT. I changed my blog URL to nutnat.blogspot.com for a moment of time.
And I gave up my entire iwantamoment attachment.

Well, this URL means a lot me personally.
When I was younger, I've always been looking for God, but I didn't think I would find him in this life. EVER. And I also thought that putting the word "Jesus" in my blog URL was lame.
And so I just left it as "iwantamoment(withjesus)".

Until YISS came round, I felt that I wasn't ready to leave my blog. Just stagnant there for so many days. So vulnerable to the internet world. Well, I could have privatised it, but something told me, no.
I left my blog anyway.

Now, I'm back.
And I'm a new person.
Sticking to iwantamoment.
Sticking to the old Nat you knew, yet a new Nat altogether!

ALL THINGS NEW. YISS 2007

This camp has taught me so much. And it's the best church camp ever.

I broke a leg, like literally. I injured a muscle in my right foot, so bad that going to the toilet was a torture.
Call it love for my participants, that I walked on in the entire camp.

I didn't feel too good the first day. Just so much burden. SO MUCH. I wanted to cry non-stop. Blame it on jealousy. Blame it on myself.
I didn't know what overcame me, maybe the devil. But I was filled with so much hatred.
How come others could do something so well and I couldn't? How come others my age could do so much more?

I talked to Cass, and I got it off my chest. Felt alot better.

Second day was pretty good, I opened up to God and I felt the spirit working through me.
You know how different it feels to be TOUCHED by the Holy Spirit, and to have the Holy Spirit WORKING in you?
Very different.

Third day came pretty hard on me. That's where I injured my foot. Walking was a chore (boy I sure missed being able to just walk without even realising I'm walking).

During one of the praise and worship sessions where I just felt like the most BLEAH things in the universe, God spoke to me in a LOUD yet GENTLE voice, saying "you know Nat, broken instruments work too."
I took it literally, inferring that God really wanted me to just work for his glory that night (after all, I was an instrument of God, and my leg was broken).
I initially asked Cass whether I could minister that night, but worrying about my leg, she said "We'll see".

It was during the Spiritual Preparation when everyone in the room was just so anointed, it felt like PENTECOST at that moment. Prophecies, visions, affirmations just flooded the room. Jesus was on a ticklish mode too apparently. I laughed and cried at the same time. It was just AWESOME.

The amazing thing was that, I couldn't even support my own legs to bring my up one flight of stairs, I had to resort to asking Gavin to piggy back me up.
When the outpouring of the Holy Spirit started, and I began to minister to people, I just felt the power of the Holy Spirit flowing through me. And guess what? MY LEG DIDN'T HURT ANYMORE (throughout the entire outpouring).

You know, as you read this, I just want you to know that God works in ways that we can't comprehend.
You think I wanted this sucky leg of mine? He allowed for it to happen, so that I can stand here today and testify that HE IS REAL, and he's ready to be real in all of your lives!

All you got to do, is just surrender everything to Him, and put everything at the foot of His cross. Your joys, your pains, your sorrow, your misery, your anger, EVERYTHING.

Yeah, the camp was so PERFECT. I don't know how else things could be done, such as to make it any better.
The entire camp was so anointed with God's presence. And the participants are getting better and better each year.

PRAISE YOU JESUS.

You know God, I would just like to thank you for this wonderful group that you've blessed me with.

MTV Studio Tours

I got to experience what goes on behind the scenes from the studios of MTV Asia. Together with seven other bloggers from the Grand Finals of the iam @ Youth.SG Blogging Contest.

You know, I really thank God that I won the camera the previous round, if not I wouldn't have any of these photos (:

Before the tour, everyone was excited! So excited Calvin looked worried.

When we entered the studio, it was pretty much like KIDDIE HEAVEN. I even thought we entered the wrong place. But producers don't lie, so I trusted her and walked on.

The studio's so nice, it's really no wonder why they always look so happy to be working there!

Anyway, we didn't wait TOO long before the tour started (but bloggers being bloggers, we already started camwhoring even BEFORE the tour started).

They gave out goodie bags, and Juni was SO EXCITED to take a peek at what's inside.

Anyway, here's what they gave us.
- An MTV notebook
- A landyard
- An MTV postit pad
- A postcard (which happened to be LINKIN PARK!)
- The envelope itself!

The tour officially started, and the first VJ we saw was Utt!
I managed to get a really cute shot of him (:

We first entered the Recording studio where we saw Colby recording. The room was dark and lively. Cool combination.

After which, we headed to the room where they DID the recording (is that called a recording room/studio?)
HIGHLIGHT of the day. Managed to play around with the POP INC. set, and got a few shots with the VJs (:

Okay, and off we went, to tour even MORE.

We went into various rooms where they were editing shows to be aired in the near future. The coolest I saw was KIDS' CHOICE AWARDS 2007!! Justin Timberlake's hosting it this year! =D

Treetop Walk

I'm not crazy to wake up in the morning to go for the treetop walk at Macritchie.

AND DIE. I was late. My mommy forgot to wake me up. And my wonderful brother just had to wake me up. POKE.
Thank goodness Elvie's mom was nice enough to send us.

The walk was fun la. Except for the 'climb the steep hill' part.
To think I believed Edwin (lesson learnt: NEVER BELIEVE EDWIN) that we had to belay across the bridge. >.<

Nine schools came over, and one school pissed me off quite badly.
SJI boys behaved the worst, they even made their teacher throw their plates away for them. A first I've seen in my entire life.

Decided to buy a dress! Since I've not been on a shopping trip in the longest time ever. I told my mommy that I wanted to get a hair cut, in th end, I used the money to get myself a new dress. I didn't lie, I simply changed my mind at the last minute.

AND NO, STOP WORRYING, MY HAIR IS STILL INTACT (:

You'd be surprised. This Fashion is actually one of my all time favourite shops. They have good and CHEAP clothing there. You just have to open your eyes, and spot the non-ahlian clothing.

Cross Country

Cross Country today, wasn't too bad. Thank goodness it didn't rain. If not I'll just pretend to fall just right before the muddy area! (: And... Get carried back on a stretcher by the Red Cross-ers.

Attendance for 4e6 was 6/35 today.
Guess most of them had sore eyes, the virus has been going around this entire week, which caused our class to end up with less than 20 people attending lessons yesterday.

Think about 180 people ran for our level only. Which is why I'm not shocked that I got 47th position even though I walked more than 75% the entire distance.

On a very much lighter note, Sec 2s did Tolley proud today! (: They were crowned best house for the sec 2 level!
We'll get that challenge trophy one day!

Looks like only if a house captain wins a medal for cross-country, then they will "win the hearts" of the house members.
What dingy thinking.
No doubt I didn't win last year or this year, but as long as I managed to "win the heart" of at least ONE TOLLEY MEMBER. I've done my job.

Headed down to Upper Thomson Road for some prata to satisfy my sudden craving for something spicy.

Afterwhich, I approached Holy Spirit Church. I had a good time with God, just speaking to him. Just realised that he hasn't really been a part of my life for the past few months, and as YISS draws near, I hope to translate to my group members how GREAT our GOD is.

American Idol Grand Finals

I managed to catch the American Idol Finals, only because i didn't wake up in time for my facilitator's training. Was feeling a little woozy after consuming some flu medication. Good thing anyway, have not been sleeping too well these days.

Back to my point.... I caught the finals, and in my opinion, it wasn't the most fantastic finals I've seen. I thought that Jordin showed a little nerves. And Blake could have held in his 'jumpiness' for the last song.
Kudos to them for making it to the finals! You guys have made my Wednesdays so much better.

And American Idol is such an emotional show, don't you agree?
When someone you've been rooting for the entire leaves, you feel as though something is tugging at your heart. More American Idol "crazy" people would probably feel as though the world came crashing on them. But hey, they live half way across the world from us.

The disappointment soon disappeared after Daughtry came on.. With HOME. (:
